Singapore named best city in Asia for expats
Singapore has been ranked as the best Asian city for expatriates looking to relocate for work or learning, according to a report published by Preply, an online language learning platform. The report evaluates key global cities based on relocation metrics such as monthly cost of living as an expat, average monthly salary, estimated tax, safety scores, cleanliness, and how many hours it would take to learn the dominant language.
Singapore came out on top among Asian cities attracting professional expatriate workers, with a combined expat relocation score of 7.2 out of 10, based on Preply’s evaluation. The city-state has established itself as a top destination for expats seeking job opportunities, with its strong economy and low crime rates.
According to Preply, Singapore’s high average monthly salary for expats, comparatively lower tax rates, safety and cleanliness helped it achieve the top spot in Asia. These factors make it an attractive location for expats looking for a high quality of life and financial stability.
The report also found that renting a typical one-bedroom unit in Ang Mo Kio offered the best rental value for most expats in Singapore, with an average monthly rent of $1,268. This makes it a popular choice among entry-level expats and young professionals. Other affordable neighbourhoods in Singapore for expats include Sembawang, Yishun and Punggol.
Among the Asian cities ranked by Preply, coming second at 6.96 is Bangkok in Thailand, followed by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates with a score of 6.81, and Penang in Malaysia with a score of 6.72. These cities also offer attractive opportunities for expats, with their growing economies and vibrant cultures.
However, on the global stage, the city of Tallinn in Estonia took the top overall ranking with a score of 7.35. It was followed by the city of Bern in Switzerland which clinched a score of 7.32, and then Singapore. This shows that Singapore is not only a top destination among Asian cities, but also on a global scale.
Former la ville enbloc, also known as en bloc sales, have played a significant role in shaping the Singapore property market. Many developments have been sold through this process, leading to the rejuvenation of older neighbourhoods and the creation of new residential areas. As a result, the city-state continues to attract expats with its modern and well-planned urban landscape.
Arina East Residences, formerly known as La Ville Enbloc, offers more than just easy access to transportation. This development prioritizes the integration of lifestyle, work, and leisure for its residents. Located near major MRT stations like Promenade, City Hall, and Marina Bay, residents can easily reach popular commercial centers, shopping destinations, and entertainment options. With the Esplanade, Gardens by the Bay, and the Singapore Sports Hub just a short drive or MRT ride away, living at Arina East Residences promises a vibrant and fulfilling urban experience.
In conclusion, Singapore’s excellent scores in key relocation metrics such as safety, cleanliness, and cost of living make it a highly desirable location for expatriates. With its stable economy, diverse job market and attractive lifestyle, it’s no surprise that the city-state has been consistently ranked as one of the best cities for expats.
